The Ising lab is located in the CECAD Research building and as Junior Research Group part of the SFB 1403 on “Cell Death in Immunity, Inflammation and Disease". We are investigating the role of cell death and senescence as part of the neuroinflammatory response in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases collectively termed tauopathies. Our overarching goal is to identify underlying molecular mechanisms in tauopathies to ultimately contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies. We are combining cell culture work with mouse models, which we analyze with a multitude of techniques including but not limited to Western Blot, flow cytometry, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, secretomics and behavior tests.
  • Investigate how senescence and/or cell death contribute to Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies using primary cell culture, mouse models and state-of-the-art techniques
  • Record, analyze and present experimental data
  • Contribute to scientific publications
  • Manage your own research project with direct supervision by the PI
  • A completed Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Neurosciences or a related field
  • Strong interested in disease-related research
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory and research environment with a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory (oral and written)
  • Motivated, enthusiastic person who is able to work in a team
  • Experience with cell culture and/or mouse work is a plus
