The Institute of Pathology - Field of application: Project: "Role of endothelial MIF in kidney diseases" - are seeking a Doctoral student (w/m/d).
The position is available to start as soon as possible, it´s a part-time position (65%) and would be on a fixed-term contract initially for 1 year. There is a possibility of continued employment.The PhD student will investigate the functional role of the cytokine MIF in acute and chronic kidney diseases using different animal models, transgenic mice and histological (histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, electron microscopy) as well as protein biochemical (ELISA, Western blot, RT-PCR) methods. Functional cell culture experiments complement these analyses. The project builds on already successfully published data and is DFG funded. The project is a subproject (P7) of KFO5011 \"Integrating emerging methods to advance translational kidney research\" (Cru 5011 Interakd | Kidneys Research). In this project the aim is to improve the resolution of standard ultrasound. Here, the PhD student can also be supportive and apply this newly established method in the own project.

- The applicant must hold a Master/Diploma degree in Natural sciences, Biologm or Biotechnology with an excellent academic record
- Team work ability, high enthusiasm for translational research in nephrology and an above average devotedness are required
- Practical experience in conducting animal experiments and in molecular biology is a necessity
