AdresseStaff scheduling in contact centers is a complex challenge due to the balance between staffing and demand. In the context of long-term planning, called capacity planning, this challenge gets even bigger as uncertainties need to be taken into account. Should a vacation request be approved or rejected when the demand for this time period may still change? Which of the employees should be trained and upskilled in order to have a sufficient capacity of skills available in the future, especially when employee churn and new hires happen on a regular basis?
As an Operations Research Engineer, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of Software Engineers, Designers, as well as Product and Customer Experts. Together, the team designs and is responsible for the complete product development cycle, always with the goal of developing solutions for our customers that are as innovative as they are simple.
What you’ll do:
- Develop new algorithms based on Operations Research to solve problems in the capacity planning context
- Implement these algorithms and models in Python
- Evaluate your algorithmic approach by performing benchmark runs
- Optimize runtimes by using problem-specific heuristics or exact operations research methods
- Promote the exchange of knowledge with your colleagues and develop your own expertise
- Participate actively in our open and team-focused corporate culture
What you bring to the role:
- Degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Economical Mathematics, or Mathematics with a specialization in Operations Research
- Professional experience with one of the programming languages like Python, C++, Ruby or Java
- Experience with software development concepts like TDD, OOP, clean code and refactoring
- Knowledge in the area of discrete optimization, and ideally in stochastic optimization
- Experience in using ILP solvers e.g. SCIP, Gurobi, CPLEX
