IT Project Manager (m/f/d)*

In the central Information Technology (IT) division for the Service Delivery (SD) department

Location
Munich

The Service Delivery Transformation and Supporting services team is a global team operating as a change centre of excellence for project delivery. It delivers all change and transformation project activity for SD; the remit of SD extends from the underpinning IT network all the way to the end user desktops. It is responsible for delivery of the business benefits and outcomes, and accountable for the project budget, project road map, project resources and timely delivery of the project scope.

Four portfolio leads run seven global portfolios of activity. Each portfolio delivers the strategic agenda and road map for a specific part of the IT infrastructure. Within each portfolio there are multiple projects, programmes and project delivery resources. The portfolios are Workplace, Support, Data Centre, Infrastructure, Integrations, Networks and Keeping the Light On.

Project and programme managers within SD report to one portfolio lead; however, they could typically deliver projects for multiple portfolios. The four portfolio leads and the PMO report directly to the global head of Transformation and Supporting Services.

Your job

  • Running and managing a project of low complexity with a budget up to approximately £1m and taking responsibility for the delivery using formal project management techniques as appropriate
  • Producing a charter for each project based upon the agreed scope, defining the budget, identifying the resources, creating the schedule, outlining the approach and suggesting the sequence of work required to execute the project effectively
  • Driving the delivery of projects with predictable consistency, efficiency and success, ensuring overall compliance with internal IT requirements and smooth transition of the resulting solution into production
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders and acting as the key point of contact for the project
  • Identifying issues and risks, analysing options and managing impacts to mitigate project delays and take appropriate action to keep the project on track, leveraging support from key stakeholders and/or management as required
  • Managing, monitoring and reporting progress against milestones and budgets, ensuring consistent and transparent communication is provided to management and executive leadership
  • Ensuring all project costs (actuals) are actively tracked and managed, including SOWs/purchase orders, contracts and internal resource assignments, and ensuring accurate forecasts and accruals are maintained in SAP and Planview
  • Coordinating the completion of all documentation, project plans, change requests, approvals, life cycle steps and compliance gate requests in a timely manner to ensure the project continues to align with the agreed schedule

Your profile

  • Working knowledge of project/programme management (e.g. Managing Successful Programs (MSP), Prince2) and agile project management tools and methodologies
  • Several years of experience in successfully managing the delivery of IT infrastructure, workplace or application projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally in a global finance/insurance or regulated industry
  • Ability to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation
  • Familiarity with leading a project under a unified project lens without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints
  • Ability to work in complex organisational structures and tenaciously forge a path resulting in delivery
  • Considerable experience in managing the diverging interests of various stakeholders
  • Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarise project health status for stakeholder presentations
  • Track record in managing and tracking project costs and budgets to agreed baselines
  • Ability to drive a mixture of functional and geographic work streams and coordinate step change delivery to the business in a unified way
  • Consultative and collaborative working style that creates a culture of accountability and sharing
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with varying organisational and geographic styles to achieve the end goal of unifying and standardising the delivery culture and capability
  • Fluent command of business English and willingness to travel
