ASSOCIATE RISK DIVISION’S CHIEF OPERATING OFFICE (COO)
Background on the Position
Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate to join the Risk Division’s Chief Operating Office (COO) in Frankfurt. The role holder will report to the Head of Risk Governance and COO for Morgan Stanley Europe and will be responsible for providing oversight of the Division’s outsourcing and other COO tasks.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

What will you be doing?
    Oversight of the implementation of the outsourcing framework in FRM, including
    • Providing advice on regulatory expectations and best practice
    • Coordinating completion of Risk Assessments, outsourcing agreements and updates to the outsourcing inventory and perform quality assurance on all documentation periodically
    • Central point of contact in FRM for the Central Outsourcing Office, Audit and regulatory queries on outsourcing related topics
    • Ensuring the service owners in FRM meet internal and external outsourcing related obligations
    • Maintenance of related policies and procedures
    Support the co-ordination of external disclosures for FRM, e.g. the Risk Report (Risikobericht) and Annual Financial Statements
    Responsible for other Risk COO related tasks, including, co-ordination of ad-hoc projects and presentations for senior management, internal/external audit liaison, Business Continuity Planning, onboarding of new joiners, space planning, system entitlements reviews
    Support the Risk Governance team on ad-hoc tasks, such as tracking of regulatory submissions, findings and commitments; preparation of regulatory on-site visits / workshops and information requests; compiling & reviewing submission materials

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:
    Bachelors degree or equivalent
    German language skills (preferred)
    Experience in financial services; prior experience in areas relating to Outsourcing or Chief Operating Office (preferred)
    Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus
    The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
    An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
    Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
    The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
