Position:
As Lab Manager in our Home Care and I&I application lab in our Technical Service Centre in Hürth, Cologne area, you will be a central actor of our technical offering. Your goal is to ensure that we deliver the technical support required by our customers in EMEA and develop the concepts for tomorrow’s cleaning. In doing so, you will develop formulations and application-related test procedures. You will work closely with sales, marketing, product management and suppliers and report to the Home Care and I&I Technical & Marketing Director.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure appropriate development of the application lab – including selection of adequate equipment and development of methods according to the industry standards.- Manage equipment, raw material, documentation and laboratory according to current health and safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Manage lab employees and trainees
- Undertake application and product development studies including performance testing and development of frame formulations for internal marketing purpose, customers’ and suppliers’ projects as required
- Using agreed templates, complete reports, develop marketing documents and present results of relevant studies.
- Maintain SalesForce (CRM) and Alchemy (LIMS) to ensure accurate visibility of the lab and technical activities
- Assess the activities conducted in the lab with regard to Return on Investment
- Coordinate labwork within IMCD and external labs
- Support the sales force with customer visits linked to selected Key Business Opportunities
- Reply to technical questions from our sales or product managers
- Participate to technical know-how transfer across the IMCD regions (Quarterly meetings with Americas and APAC)
Key qualifications:
- Chemistry related background (Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry or a natural science)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in formulating within the Home Care and I&I or Personal Care sectors
- A driving mindset, readiness to learn and an enthusiasm to shape your work environment
- Structured and analytical thinking
- Fast learner, able to work autonomously
- Committed, reliable team player
- Creative, solution finder
- Skilled in working with MS office, especially PowerPoint
- Proficiency in German and English
