What we expect:
An excellent Master’s degree (University) in Philosophy;
Additional experience in either a natural science, math-
ematics, or computer science;
Excellent command of the English language;
International experience through studies abroad or an
international study environment is an asset;
Good command of German is desirable but not required.
Your responsibilities:
Cooperation with researchers outside of philosophy,
specifically physics and theoretical biology;
Support the project through research related work, in-
cluding participation in (and hosting of) workshops,
public scientific events, as well as online seminars;
Produce of internationally visible, high-quality publica-
tions;
Present their work in international conferences and
workshops.
The Faculty of Humanities and Theology comprises the De-
partments of Catholic Theology and Protestant Theology as
well as a joint Department of Philosophy and Political Sci-
ence. There is an interdisciplinary focus on teaching and re-
search in the field of “Religion and Politics” with special em-
phasis on philosophical references.
The newly established, DFG funded Emmy Noether Junior Re-
search Group UDNN: Scientific Understanding and Deep Neu-
ral Networks (Head: Dr. Florian J. Boge) invites applications
for one doctoral position at the Department of Philosophy and
Political Science in the Faculty of Humanities and Theology
for a period of three years. The initial employment can start
at the earliest possible date. According to the public tariff
regulations, the salary is based on the tariff group E13 TV-L
with 65 % of the regular work time.
