Duties & Responsibilities:
VIAVI Eningen is looking for a Test Engineer with the experience and drive to make a difference. This position will directly support new product introduction and perform support for our Eningen manufacturing site. Prior experience in the field of RF/microwave test equipment is strongly preferred. The purpose of this position is to ensure high-quality and reliable test methods are designed into automated test systems in manufacturing and service for Storage Network Testing equipment produced by the Lab and Production Business unit. This position will partner with R&D during new product introduction and continue to support products throughout their lifecycle.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
- Detail project planning to ensure all test solutions and processes are developed, documented, debugged, deployed, and validated in time for the new product pilot run.
- Provide DFT direction to R&D from the concept stage and throughout new product development.
- Design, develop, and influence the various automated production systems required to implement the product test strategy.
- Partner with R&D and Mfg. Engineering to develop reliable test systems, jigs & fixturing.
- Optimize calibration and test processes for coverage, capability, and test stand capacity.
- Effective use of quality tools such as statistical process and measurement uncertainty to ensure test solutions are in control and traceable to a calibration standard.
- Installation and validation of production systems at the final production facility.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
- High level of English and B2 level of German required.
- Bachelor or state-certified technician in Computer Science, Computer Engineering /, or Electrical Engineering.
- Competent in Digital communication concepts.
- Knowledge of industry-standard test technologies and methods using test equipment
- Program language experience with emphasis on ANSI C and familiarity with languages such as Python, PowerShell, Linux Shell, and C++.
- IDE programming experience in test automation using LabWindows CVI or NI TestStand.
- SQL database programming experience for test records and data management.
- Problem-solving competencies like structured problem solving, Six Sigma or similar.
- General knowledge of statistical process control concepts and use of tools for analysis and reporting.
- General knowledge of measurement uncertainties and calibration traceability to national standards.
- Written documentation experience such as test specifications, procedures, installation instructions, interconnects, assembly drawings, and preventive maintenance.
- Project planning experience. - Communicates effectively with the team, interdepartmental stakeholders, and contract manufacturers.
- Engages actively with the team and manager reporting status while working on objectives. - Demonstrates self-motivation.
