Postdoc* - Biotherapeutic Drug Development & Protein Engineering

The Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP researches and develops innovative ways for the early detection, diagnosis, and therapy of diseases resulting from disturbed functions of the immune system. We consider ourselves to be a strong partner both for university medicine in the consistent application of research results, as well as for the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry in the application of the latest findings from science and research in concrete projects.

What you will do
  • Design, production, and purification of recombinant proteins as pharmacological agents
  • Production and purification of membrane receptors and other pharmacological target proteins
  • Analysis and characterization of therapeutic proteins (binding to target structures, stability analysis)
  • Investigation of the mechanisms of action of therapeutic biomolecules using in vitro and cell-based assays
What you bring to the table
  • You hold a scientific university degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, chemistry or a related discipline and a Ph.D. in the natural sciences
  • Additionally, you have excellent knowledge of molecular biology, protein chemistry, and relevant experience in the design, expression, and purification of recombinant proteins
  • Hands-on experience with various expression systems and methods for analyzing protein-protein interactions is desirable
  • To be considered for this position, you should speak and write English fluently
  • You are a quick learner, a team player, curious, organized, reliable and highly committed

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to two years and can also be filled on a part-time basis.
