In this position you'll work as a Senior Project Engineer (f/m/d) supporting Boeing and NATO in operating and maintaining a Software Integration Laboratory (SIL) during the development, integration, and test phase of the program on-site in Geilenkirchen, Germany.

The primary focus of this position is to ensure the SIL is operating as expected, to report anomalies, and perform basic maintenance on the SIL computing systems per received engineering direction. Software coding is outside the responsibilities for this position.

You are the in-person Boeing "face" to the customer, so personal appearance (grooming and dress), a helpful and friendly demeanor, and the ability to speak and write in a professional, unambiguous manner while working unsupervised for extended periods of time are paramount.

Working hours will nominally be 5-days a week (Monday to Friday), 8-hours per day. Additionally, you must be willing to work flexible hours (i.e. on-call 24 hours per day, and 7 days per week) as the job requires.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Operating the SIL for the NATO customer
  • Assisting visiting Boeing personnel assigned to perform SIL installation, improvement, and testing
  • Reporting unexpected SIL behavior or anomalies to the appropriate Boeing design teams
  • Investigating SIL issues and analyzing hardware and software issues to help resolve root cause
  • Performing routine maintenance as advised by the SIL integration and design teams
  • Coordinating SIL usage times and schedules with customers
  • Conducting informal training for NATO customers needing assistance
  • Assisting NATO with writing technical inquiries and ensuring responses (when received) are understood
  • Receiving and securing hardware and software shipments until installation can occur
  • Maintaining on-site SIL configuration records
  • Attending program meetings as requested

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at Geilenkirchen, Germany.

This position requires a CURRENT ACTIVE SECRET NATO Security Clearance. (PRE-START)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Possess or able to acquire a currently active NATO Secret clearance
  • Prior experience with AWACS mission systems
  • Basic system administration experience
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring schematics, and maintenance task procedures
  • Experience teaching peers in a non-classroom setting
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior design or operational experience on the AWACS platform
  • Detailed understanding of the AWACS Mission systems
  • Experience using Boeing web-based Information Systems such as My Boeing Fleet, VECTOR (technical inquiry request system), REDARS, and PSDS
  • Previous military experience or extensive familiarity with NATO operational procedures
