Salary range: €85,000 - €110,000 + Equity
YOUR MISSION
Build the legal function of a pan-European insurance startup from the ground up! This role combines leadership responsibilities and project management with hands-on legal drafting. Work closely with the founder team to set up our regulatory business model, develop innovative insurance products and structure the relationships with our various distribution partners.
Draft easy-to-read, transparent, and fair insurance terms (i.e., policies, terms & conditions, and supporting documents)
Structure and standardise the relationships with our distribution partners and insurance intermediaries
Negotiate and maintain framework agreements with our partner insurance carriers
Coordinate the work of external law firms contracted by Embea
Develop effective and pragmatic compliance and data protection standards
Help with other day-to-day legal challenges of an early-stage startup
Lay the groundwork of our legal function and future team
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Strong academic qualifications in (business) law or a related field with sound legal knowledge
Experience from working in an insurance and/or financial services company or a law firm
Good knowledge of European insurance and distribution law
Entrepreneurial mindset: You like to think of solutions, not problems
A desire to roll up your sleeves: No task is too big or too small for you
Excellent communication skills, fluent in German and English
