Job Requirements:
The Global Application Engineering Manager supervises and leads all activities of the Application Engineering team within the Industrial Filtration business unit. The position is responsible for delivering timely, qualified engineering proposals to provide the most cost-effective solutions to internal and external customers, whilst maximizing profits for the company. This group responds to the engineering and technical needs of sales, procurement, and customers. The position requires a knowledge of existing and new-product applications in the Air Pollution Control (APC) and Liquid Filtration markets. Manager understands and actively coaches other colleagues regarding product applications, features, advantages, and how to troubleshoot common problems seen in the field. This role is design oriented and utilizes sound engineering principles to recommend and approval all warranty and performance guarantees.
Responsibilities:
- Support Industrial Filtration growth consistent with Alkegen’s strategic plan.
- Assist engineering advances in both product form and application to innovate our marketing efforts.
- Assign engineering workload, monitoring progress toward completion, and evaluating results.
- Develop new systems, as well as improvements and modifications to existing systems.
- Ensure processes and systems are consistent and common in all global locations.
- Evaluate competitive design.
- Provide technical support, product information, and application recommendations to sales force and customer base.
- Owns the performance guarantee process, approving/signing product warranties.
- Expedites non-standard product quotations by coordinating logistical information such as costs, lead times, part numbers and price recommendations.
- Protect pricing integrity to ensure policies and practices in one market do not jeopardize another.
- Maintain product leadership by making certain that design, cost performance characteristics, and pricing are consistently competitive.
- Track relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including but not limited to the number of engineered enquiries, quotation time, success ratios.
- Maintain global product standards and designs.
- Collaborate in a team approach with cross-functional teams including Customer Service, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, New Product Development and R&D.
- Represent the company as the technical expert at industry standard meetings, conferences, site supervision, and tradeshows.
- Up to 50% travel required to customer locations and company sites
Qualifications/ Experience:
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in Industrial Air and Liquid Filtration
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA preferred.
- Technical and practical knowledge of APC markets
- Experience selecting and proposing fabric filter material for best performance
- Engineering design and management experience
- Proven experience offering creative, quality solutions to complex issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Self-motivated, demonstrated leadership ability, problem solving, training ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
