Internship Programme – Pricing

London

An exciting opportunity to join AXA XL for an 8-week paid summer internship programme within our Pricing function based in London.  The Internship program gives you the opportunity to work alongside our Actuaries and Analysts in the Pricing function to learn about the valuable work they do in advising the Underwriting teams on commercials deals and client decisions.

 

As an intern you will have the opportunity to work on individual projects contributing to the pricing team, allowing you to build valuable skills and gain insight for a future career in the Actuarial industry.

 

We have the opportunity for 4 Interns to join the Pricing function for 2023. Each Intern will be allocated a mentor and specific insurance line of business to focus on, whilst also learning about the wider team and all of the business lines we cover. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the wider business, including Reinsurance, Capital Modelling, Reserving and Underwriting.

 

The programme will run over summer in our London office. To be eligible for the Internship programme you need to be available for the full 8-week duration and have the right to work in the UK. We have adopted Smart Working practices so you will be able to do some work from home, but you must be able to attend our office for the majority of the working week to gain the maximum learning value from the programme.

What will the Internship programme involve?

·       Gain an insight into the role of a Pricing Actuary at a Global Insurer, learning about the work they do, the models the use and the key stakeholders they interact with

·       Working with Actuaries, Analysts and Underwriters in order to complete specific projects assigned by your mentor

·       Learn how to use bespoke models to help price individual accounts, learn about risk parameters and how we make pricing decisions

·       Collate and investigate industry data sets to develop an understanding of what the data is showing and how we use it to improve decision making

·       Improve your knowledge of different data analysis software and how to use it

·       Participate in a collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment

·       Develop an understanding of AXA XL’s insurance business

·       Take part in our Global Day of Giving

You will report to an Actuary in the Insurance Pricing team.  

SHARE your talent

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

·       Currently studying for an Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Science or other numerate degree

·       Currently enrolled on a university course in your penultimate year, final year or already graduated university with a predicted or achieved 2.1 or above

·       Have an interest in a career within Pricing or wider Actuarial services

·       A highly analytical mindset

·       A self-motivated problem solver with a strong attention to detail & highly organised

·       Knowledge of R/SQL/VBA a bonus

·       Strong Excel skills

·       Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills

·       You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
